The Island of Elba is Italy's third largest island and lies in the Tuscan Archipelago, where it forms the diadem of what legend says is Venus's necklace, which fell into the Tyrrhenian Sea. The other pearls are Gorgona, Capraia, Pianosa, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri.The island of Elba is 223.5 Km2 in area and has a coastline of 147 Km. Its roads offer visitors the opportunity to view beautiful landscapes, so even travel from town to town by car, motorbike or bus is a genuine pleasure. The map below shows the shortest route to the Casa Vacanze Anselmi at Sant'Andrea after arrival by ferry at Portoferraio or after landing at La Pila airport, while the additional notes explain how to get to the Island of Elba itself.
Travel to the Island of Elba:
For those travelling by car, motorbike or train: the most convenient embarkation point is Piombino and the best served port of arrival is Portoferraio. Four shipping companies, TOREMAR , MOBY LINES, Blu Navy e Corsica Ferries, transport vehicles and passengers to the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian in a pleasant trip of about one hour (guests are advised to book their ferry well ahead of time in high season)
For those travelling by plane: during the summer, flights connect the Island of Elba International Airport (La Pila, Campo nell'Elba) to Milan Linate, Bergamo, Parma, Zurich, Munich, Bern, Vienna and Innsbruck.
